Lenco-Lovers.com, the Lenco/Idler turntable site is down and been delisted from its server. As a former moderator there, I knew that there has been trouble brewing for the past few weeks. (Isn't divorce always over silly, meaningless stuff?) More than a dozen of the longtime core contributers have set up a new "refuge" site for the homeless. We're on our first legs, but we're a dedicated bunch and I suspect that the site will thrive and become the new Lenco/Idler reference site of record.
The provisional name is Lenco Heaven, a site that predated Lenco-Lovers and as karma has a way of steering these things, "what goes around, comes around".

That's a shame. I'm not a Lenco owner, but was a lurker over there as some members had some GREAT background with my favorite line of cartridges: Stanton/Pickering. Hopefully they'll migrate to the new board, but I'm assuming the goldmine of info that had been posted to the lenco-lovers.com site is lost for good?

The mass migration is in process and since this was pretty much a one-man scuttle at Lenco-Lovers, I wouldn't be surprised if nearly all come over. Brian C. who ran the wonderful mono forum is already back on the new board, joining the ranks of Ian, Ropie, Willbewill, Bornin50, Peter Reinders, Diawok, AZ Gary, RFGumby, B52 and others too numerous to name, many of whom were charter members of the original "Home Despot" thread over at Audiogon.
Sadly, a lot will have to be restored with some "roll-up-our sleeves" reconstitution. But just like in Fahrenheit 451, he can burn the books, but not the knowlege.

This is probably a really dumb question but, if AK just put up a Lenco board could it no migrate here and be under 1 roof so to speak?

Sorry to hear about the problems, but I'm glad that you are getting another site on-line for lenco. I do hope that the info migration goes well because there was certainly a lot already on the board that would be a shame to lose.

Much appreciate. Yeah, it's going to be tough and a little barren for awhile. Just as in divorce (suspect, haven't gone there myself), there's the potential for some nasty squabbling over who owns what - in this case, intellectual property. While there may be some areas where there are clear rights outside of Lenco-Lovers, other gray areas will probably have to be rebuilt from the ground up.
One area that's probably "free use" are graphics uploaded to third-party servers. I was the unofficial archivist at LL, so I grabbed a lot of those.

And thanks for the charitable thought. But it seems that AK doesn't have any sub-forums capabilities under turntables. Before a Lenco, or even idler dedicated space at AK, seems that tonearms or cartridges would be first in line.

Thanks for the heads up, I haven't been to Lenco Lovers in a while and I knew nothing of trouble brewing. I just registered on the new Lenco Heaven and I will check it out after I am approved. I have built 2 Lencos and I have one more PTP2 left, just need the inspiration and motivation to get it started. I am so pleased with my first PTP2 build, I haven't felt the need to start another.

Glad to hear they've got a migration plan, as they have lot of great info and informative people. It does seem a shame we can't bring them over here!

Those who already registered at the temporary Proboards site have been notified. The Proboards site is no longer accepting new applicants.

There has been some, but not much restoration of what was on the old Lenco-Lovers forum. Some pages were archived as "Cached" pages accessible via a Google search but many, many more are not. The Internet Archive at www.archive.org has very few archived Lenco-Lovers pages and those are old, from about a year ago. The associated links to other pages on Lenco-Lovers are dead.

While it will take a while to restore the knowledge base that has been lost, the enthusiasm of the combined membership hopefully will drive the effort until the new site surpasses the old Lenco-Lovers.

Lenco Référence Forum

The language spoken there is french, and the "Lencopedia" postings seem remarkably familiar to this former LL member.
