Decca High Fidelity

Can anyone provide information about these speakers? Year, model number, any additional information? I have an opportunity to buy these for $30, but know next to nothing about them. I can't seem to find any information on the web about them either. The placard on the lower right corner of each speaker says "Decca Hi Fidelity. ". Thanks!

From what i could find on Decca, I'd grab em and ask questions later!
They are mentioned with brands like MacIntosh, NUFF SAID!!

Thanks for the feedback! I talked with the seller and set up a time to purchase them. He couldn't provide much additional information about them such as model number or anything (said he didn't think there was a model number on them best he could remember). He also said he thought they were late 50's possible early 60's and perhaps were "cheap mono speakers that came with some old console stereo". I didn't get the impression he was interested in / knew much about audio stuff. He did say he had used them "a while back" and he recalled them working. We'll see...

Anyone else with thoughts or information on these?

Hi,they can have EMI speaker inside like the 4" find in the IMF Tls 50,it will be interesthing to see what is inside.

One thing I'm not sure about: the only thing he's selling is what is pictured above. The two cabinets look different - like this is 1/2 of a 4 piece system?

In addition, I've looked high and low on the web for info on these and can't find a thing! Makes me wonder if they're junk, fakes, or good/desirable???

Found this old thread on a Decca speaker:

Might be similar to what you are looking at.
If it did come from a mono system, that might explain the "half" of a system. It would have used only one speaker.

Good sleuthing!

Googling suggests that there was Decca in the UK (sometimes called "London Decca") and a (related?) Decca in the U.S.. The UK Decca made some audio eqpt, including speakers with EMI drivers, and their own (highly regarded) "Kelly" ribbon tweets. In the U.S., it seems that Decca was more of a "badge engineering" outfit. I've recently seen an AK thread about some nice (record player extension) speakers badged as RCA Victor in England (HMV?) and Decca stateside.

I suspect the speakers the OP has posted about are a US build, and similar to that in the earlier AK thread, but still very nice.

Just to close the loop on this thread: I decided not to move forward with purchasing these speakers. Ultimately, didn't really fit my needs well. Thanks for everyone's input just the same.
