Degaussing a TEAC cassette

I just got a TEAC CRC90 reel-to-reel style cassette at the flea market for 50 cents! The tape had sticky syndrome, so I replaced it.
My question: how do I make sure I'm not magnetizing the reels with my Chicken Shack bulk eraser? I don't want to replace the tape again!

The reels on the Teacs are aluminum, (at least they are on the CRC reels). They can not get magnetized.
