Denon 2105 in Protection mode. Wanna help a rookie?

Hi. Just seeing if anyone is interested in helping a rookie learn a bit. I have a Denon AVR 2105. Given to me so I have nothing invested in it, just want to use it to learn. Guys son was cranking some tunes one night and it shut off. It goes into protection mode seconds after turning on.
1. I have tried the reset. Nothing
2. There is a video on youtube with an experienced tech guy fixing the exact same model. His was a rectifier problem. I took both rectifiers out and checked them with my DMM and they seem to test fine.
3. Some other Denons have voltage regulator issues. I used the DMM to test what seems to be the five main ones, they seem to test fine.
I can't see anything that seems out of place. Saw some smoke come from a resistor as I tested it so I will change that out, but it was long after the problem occurred so I don't think it was the original problem.

If I can figure it out fine, if I learn a few things good, or if I end up just stripping it for parts that is fine too.

Let me know what you think I should check, and how

Second is you really won't find many here willing to tackle a huge mb service manual.

No, I show proper respect for current.

I have the manual from hifiengine. As I said I have taken out components and tested them, so I am not totally without knowledge. But if someone wants me to try and few things for their own knowledge even, I could do it.

Otherwise, it's parts!

As I said there are other links in that gloogle link referring to your model# or try your own searches.. might be something simple. bad diode, p.s. regulator? blown output transistor? mainboard chassis ground screws? relay and circuit? bad solder joint? I've chased a couple of AVR Rabbits for a couple of months.. learned a lot. How the cpu tests hi-low on/off pass v-checks from ps to the main board. if you want to learn... go for it. I doubt anyone values the parts.. just recycle it if not interested..... why you got it for free???

One channel has probably popped its outputs, test them, if found to be faulty replace from one stage back and so on....... Checking related components for damage as you go I.e resistors, caps etc

Thanks. I’ll follow those ideas. Guy gave it to me when I bought some speakers off him.
