I once had a Denon GR-555 receiver, and I generally liked it. But the vinyl veneer on the woodcase started to shrink, then I got problems with one channel and the mute function.

I admired the styling of the front then - but I had nobody in those days to fix the Denon, at last I sold it for 100 euros.
 
The current rotation, all major workhorses that I just won't part with.

The 3000 above is simply gorgeous. I've been running a POA-1500 for a while now, it's fantastic
 
No Denon discussion is complete without the Denon DAP 5500 and DAP 2500
Preamp/ dac units. Balanced out and in (5500) , insanely hefty dual chasis separating analog and digital circuitry.

Still my go to preamp of choice with certain amps (Audire Forte -mosfet verion). Which is saying a lot since there are others lby mcintosh, VAC, Anthem, etc on the same shelf :)
 
I currently run a PRA-1200 with my POA 2400. No complaints regarding the sound but I have been wondering if one of Denon pre-amps with the digital connections would be an upgrade over the 1200 for my Denon components that have digital outputs. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
 
Was about to click "Buy Now" on a "good working" $40 early '90s Denon 45w stereo (non HT) rcvr that was on *bay about a week ago (the remote was missing). Decided to research the specs, reviews, and a replacement remote on the Net and it was gone (less than 30 minutes later) when I went back to grab it. I don't think that unit lasted more than a 3-4 hours before it sold.
 
Any of you Denon afficianados every had issues with DVD player (DVD5000) having provlems reading CDs and even if it does, 'skipping' while it plays?

I suspect a transport issue - laser,servo etc., but am not sure. I have cleaned the lens without any luck. I would like to keep this unit in service. Any help is greatly apprecaited.

That little denon unit looks cool. It reminds me of a teac micro system i have.
 
Denon PMA 510 and TU520

Another nice set of Denon gear, a PMA510 amplifier (2 x 55W) and TU520 matching tuner. Of around 1980 and still performing very good. The amplifier has a very nice phono pre, with the MM/MC selection.
To me, very good looking too!

I love my denon's when I can find em....not many products they have made were bad quality...except maybe brand new stuff....have no clue on those.

The PMA-510\520 are relatively easy to find. The PMA-777 is indeed a nice one.

From circa 1972, the SA-3900. Quite rare...

I have had Denon equipment in continuous use for almost 30 years! I use POA 4400 mono's to run my Infinity Kappa 9's, never a problem!

I also have:
DAP 2400
POA 1500
PRA 1100
DCD 1500

I love and use them all! I lived in Japan for awhile and they consider Denon to be High End stuff, on par with Nakamichi. Stuff from the 70's and 80's is coveted all over the world by collectors. The single CD players still are considered some of the best ever produced. I have had stupid offers on my equipment from locals, and I might take them up on a few peices, but the 4400's the CD player and digital preamp are to be buried with me!

I don't know what problems the previous posters have had with Denon equipment but that has not been my experience at all, for quite some time.

Do you have the set in your avatar? if so it´s the third I´we seen in Europe besides mine and another Danes.

I've had other turntables in the 35 years I've owned these but both of these Denon armless platters are still my primary reference tables. All I ask of them is to spin at a consistent rate and be quiet

I purchased a Denen DP1500 in 1978 with an Infinity Black Widow tonearm with an ADC Astrion cartridge, simply a killer combination and beautiful to this day. has never missed a lick. Also have a POA-1500 headed this way..
 
The DP1500 is a great table, its not on most folks radar, not here on AK or anywhere else for that matter... Shhhhhhh. Lets keep that little gem on the hush. :)
