Denon AVR-3802 remote control question.

Guys, anyone with an RC-883 or RC-884? Does anyone know if said remote controls ever go into sleep mode or turn off? Mine seems to just display AMP (or whatever mode it's in) and just stays like that for a long time. Haven't left it alone for any more than 5 ~ 7 mins - just wondering if that's its normal operation and won't drain batteries or... mine is defective. All buttons are snappy and work fine. Manual doesn't state anything, as far as I'm aware. Got my 3802 used and not familiar with the remote's behavior.

Any input appreciated.
