Denon AVR-5803 - Subwoofer Not Working

Recently picked up a mint 5803. Got it hooked up last night but can’t get the subwoofer working. Tried 2 different subwoofers that I have and was also a new cable from monoprice. On the on screen display I have front L/R set to small and sub on, still nothing. Not sure if still a setting I’m missing to turn it on or not?

Any suggestions?

Try a factory reset (page 68). Always a good idea when you purchase a used AVR.

Also to consider, seems I recall some units do not output subwoofer in certain modes. You'd need to check the manual to see if that might be the case for that specific unit.

Will have to check the manual when get a chance. Mainly wanted to use the sub when listening to music, just front L/R & sub.

Since the reset didn't help, either the receiver is defective or you need to use a different mode. My money's on the latter. Even though you don't plan on using them, try the different surround modes and see if any of them output to the sub.

If you are using Pure or Pure Direct mode shut that off as first thing to try. Yes, I know that may be the main point for 2-ch but it is in those modes where the sub output is most likely to be unavailable.
