Denon DCD-1000 (1986) Any experience?

I have just purchased it, for fun really .
i use a Sony CDP-302ES (1986) as my daily used cd player and thought it fun to compare the two,im waiting for the denon to be sent or i may pick up,not sure just yet.
im lead to believe that it uses the sony kss-123a transport and bur brown dat,
the denon is 2kg lighter than the sony so im guessing the sony will come out on top,but i am bias as i just love my 302es ,
well if any one would like to share what they know about this player with me that would be great,it may take some hard thinking,as far as cd players go it came from the dark ages lol,

lol this model must have been a real stinker ,not one reply! im still looking forward to getting it, for 22 dollars nz ,which is about 12-15 dollars us ,
at that price it will be fun with no regrets ,i know some one that needs a gift after i try it out,
one reason no reply might be old cd players are looked upon as not vintage and can become door stops,
i do agree ,but i do like enjoying them while i can,

I'm not familiar with this particular Denon but do have experience with a number of other Denon CDP's. The SM is available at HiFi Engine.

My thoughts after looking through the SM:

A new laser will be very difficult if not impossible to find. I did a quick look to try to find one and all of the suppliers that I use show the KSS-121A/KSS-123A as NLA. I did see one listed on ebay.com as "new, original Sony" for an insane price. I couldn't even find any Chinese made copies, not a good sign, but that aluminum body laser assy is probably so expensive to produce that nobody thinks that it is profitable to make the effort. So when the time comes that the laser gets weak the player will be a door stop.

I would consider the player to be an entry-level player quality wise.
It has a single (1) dual-channel DAC feeding both analog channels, not usually a sign of even a mid-class player, with exceptions. The DCD1510AE player that I had had a single DAC but that DAC & machine is a completely different class.

It will probably sound "OK" but don't expect to be blown away by the SQ.

On the plus side the adjustment and troubleshooting procedures in the SM are unusually detailed, so if you do need to do work on it at least that will be helpful.

For that price it is really hard to go completely wrong.

While I am a professional elevator repairman with this audio stuff I am still an amateur.
