Denon dcm-460 cd player--good?

It has recently occurred to me that I'd like to be able to play cds when my computer isn't on... I found this on CL. IIRC, older Denons have a pretty good reputations (looks like this one is from the late 90s, so maybe not that old...). First of all, is it a decent player? And second, is it worth it for the price? Thanks!

edit: p.s. I know that with tape decks, a single deck is usually better than a dual deck. Is the same true for cd players--a single disc player is better than a multi-disc changer?

If it works well, I think $25 is a great deal for that Denon changer. I've had a DCM-560 for about 3 years now and it's performed faithfully and plays anything I can throw at it. I like that it has variable RCA outputs so I can direct feed into a standalone tube amplifier or as the "volume" control in my Soundcraftsman stack. Like most 5 CD carousels, it's a little clunky sounding when switching CD's but I could care less.
 
If you are looking for a multi disc changer right now it might be worth it. If you want to easily play CD-R and MP3 discs then I would wait a bit until a newer one comes along.
I got a 2000 era 5 disc Sony for $15 at a local thrift store. I keep it just so I can have a multi disc player.

Also if you just need something to play some CDs, search around for using a DVD player as a CD player.

Thanks for the opinions--I'm really just looking for something to play cds; I don't really need a changer. I have a dvd player, but it's in another room where the tv is; I was thinking that the sound quality of a nice cd player would be better than a DVD/CD player. Do you think this cd player would sound better than an average DVD player?

I've seen some of those threads, and from what I can tell, it has a lot to do with the quality of the DAC in the unit. The DVD players I have probably cost a lot less new than this cd playerr. Trying not to start a debate, I'm assuming the quality of the components would be better in the cd player... does that sound reasonable? And at $25, maybe I can test for myself :D
 
You are just going to have to try it out. To me that player would be an average deal since it is an older player, but I am cheap buyer.
 
Well, I picked it up, and the guy remembered he had an old Panasonic DVD player that was broken so he gave it to me... it looks like he just had the wrong power cord! So I think both for $25 wasn't that bad. Now it's time to compare the sound on the 2
