Denon DK-300 w/ mystery mounting hole

Howdy,

I purchased a Denon DP-80 with a DK-300 plinth. The plinth has a hole for a tonearm however I'm unsure of what sort of tonearm would properly mount into this hole.

Unfortunately I do not yet have the DK-300 in hand, I was hoping that if I can determine which type of tonearm is needed I can purchase that prior to shipping everything home from Japan.

Interesting. My DK-300 just had a hole, yours looks like it has room to move the tonearm depending on what it is, or it could be a mounting hole for an SME arm. Hard to say for certain as I don’t own an SME arm.

This is a really great plinth though and worth getting. Don’t worry too much about the tonearm hole as you can simply make a new armboard for the plinth if needed. I just built one for my turntable so I could mount a 10.5” audiomods 6 arm to it and it wasn’t too difficult.

SME looks to be the right shape. I'll take a look to see whats available there.

Is the photo you provided yours? If so, would you recommend them?

Edit: I ended up picking up a SME 3009 S2 Improved that looks to be in decent shape. Once everything arrives I'll be able to say that for certain.

Yes, it is a 2300 plinth. I have a 3010R. SME made good stuff.

I ended up getting this tonearm. Luckily it came with the headshell as well as a M95ED cartridge

I'll probably need to start digging through the forum for a few things. Notably to find just how to get an RCA cable to connect to the tonearm, but also to figure out which cartridge I should buy (if the M95ED is damaged/unusable/i just want an "upgrade").

For those reading, so far I've read suggestions of Grado's Prestige series as well as Sumiko Blue Point. Taking any and all suggestions (if you have them)
