Denon DL-110... arrived in less than a week from Comet Supply!

I am running mine at 1.8g right now, and it seems to be right in there. I may play around with it a bit if I hear any distortion associated with the tracking force being set too low.

I was also thinking about loosing my stylus guard, because as you say, they are a bit ugly. We'll see...

A am sure 1.8 would work for me as well. Spec is 1.8 plus or minus .3 so it has some room. Did you install the metal plate/weight? Your arm probably doesn't need it.

Just curious, but is the tonearm of the Denon DP-1200 considered low mass, medium mass, or high mass? If no one knows, where might I find this information? (If I had to guess right now, I would say it is medium mass.)

I am pretty sure it's medium mass. A Google search should confirm this.

I have done a Google search for this specific info, and have so far come up with nothing. That is why I an asking the question here. For example, the specifications for this turntable on vinylengine do not list the mass of the tonearm. No other sites I have found list it either. Maybe I am not doing a proper Google search or using the proper search terms, but so far I have not been able to find this information.

Also, what mass ranges are considered low, medium, and high? Is there an industry agreed upon standard?

I dont know what the mass is for sure, but you can try hakaplan's suggestion here for a ballpark

One thing to ponder, you've been running a JICO SAS on this tonearm for some time, and the SAS is very high compliance. Did you hear anything overly wrong with that tonearm+stylus combination?

Because on paper, that is considered a mismatch of sorts. From my experience I didn't find anything too revealingly wrong. What do you guys all think?

Personally, I didn't really notice anything wrong sound wise, but it did have a problem tracking a very warped album that the Denon DL-110 handles with ease. (FWIW, I was tracking the Shure M91ED/JICO SAS at 1.5g.)

I would think the low compliance in combination with your arm is a better match.

So, after a lot of thought and procrastination, I decided to go ahead and order a Denon DL-110 HOMC cartridge from Comet Supply. I figured that for only $87 plus shipping, even if I had to wait a couple of months for it to arrive, it was worth the savings. Well, to my great surprise, what do you think showed up in my mailbox on Friday, less than one week after I had ordered it? The Denon DL-110 from Comet Supply!

I have it mounted in a genuine Denon headshell playing on my Denon DP-1200 turntable right now. So far so good. I'll let it break in a bit first before I give it a good, critical listen though. I am curious to see how I like it long term, especially in comparison to my Shure M91ED/JICO SAS combination, as well as my Ortofon OM-30, which are currently my 2 favorite carts.

Still waiting for mine. Tracking shows that it is in town. How to do I post just half a dancing banana?

Those of you that have had yours now for a few weeks, what is your impression now?

You tell me :) I realize you won't hear the full quality from a YT vid, but after about 3 months she's really opened up, No regrets with the 110, no declick used on the drop

Just got my DL-110 after about a week. I can't turn my TT off. This cart has a tremendously good sound, non-fatiguing and just sweet. Everything I play is ear candy because I keep hearing nuances that I never noticed before.

The DL-110 is very quiet for me, out of Shures, Empires, ADCs and ATs the Denon is the quietest cartridge I have. It is remarkably forgiving when there is a small scratch or scuff. No IGD whatsoever and the stereo separation is amazing.

I might agree on the surface noise. Currently running a new one on a PL-41. I've also got a PL-45D with an Empire 2000E/III that is much quieter. Of course it's not as lively in general as the DL-110. All in all, the PL-41/DL-110 is my preferred table, even with the surface noise.

I'm waiting on a Denon DL S1 from comet supply it's the 3rd cartridge I have order from them first was a DL103r than a DL304 and now Denon top of the line com said I should have it by Friday.

Yeah Bob I did notice that as well with the IGD, was experiencing it sometimes with my AT120e at times especially on newer lp releases, after a year or so I might move up the Denon ladder, I like what I hear so far :)

I've been happy with my Comet-sourced, $87 DL-110 for a few weeks now. Shipping was about 10 days. Last night I made a huge mistake. I demo'd a couple of phono stages that a friend brought to my listening room. While I HAD been perfectly content with my DL110>Thorens TP16>TD160>Harman Kardon Citation 25>Acoustat TNT120>Vandersteen 2, after trying first the Simaudio LP5.3 Phone Stage and then the Jolida JD9, I can hear what I've been missing.
Don't get me wrong...I enjoyed my system very, very much using the HK's phono stage, but the Sim and Jolida both showed me a tremendously wide, deep stage, with richer textures of voices and instruments. The bass was fast and punchy but also just more present. Of the two, I will be shopping for a Jolida...not only did I like it slightly better, it's also a third the price. For $500 or so, it took a decent system to a completely new level and made me feel very good about my DL110.

I ordered a DL-110 from them on 12/2. According to the website it has been shipped, but i have not recieved a tracking number of any kind.

Im anxious to see how it performs on my sl-1200 and how it compares to my Stanton 681EEE.

Would the 110 work better with the arm of my sl-1200 or the arm of my pioneer pl-510?

I ordered mine from Comet on November 6 and it came in on November 27. 3 weeks, not bad.

The sound is quite good, it is my second, so I am a return customer. :music:

Just a quick update, but over the past month or so that I have had mine, I would have to say that I have really been enjoying it. For the time being at least it has displaced my much loved Shure M91ED/JICO SAS stylus combo as the main cartridge on my Denon DP-1200.
