Denon DL-110, install on Stanton ST-150 or Denon DP 300F?

hello,
I got a Denon DL-110 recently. I must decide which of two turntables to install it. I have a Denon DP 300F with a Ortofon 2M red and a Stanton ST-150 with stock Stanton cartridge. I can use my Parasound Z Phono or Yamaha AVR for phono preamp. What is your option to get best quality improvement? Thanks for your opinion.

The Denon DP-300F. Also, keep the 2M Red for the DP-300F. Both are very good cartridges. I have both. I think the sound stage on the DL-110 is incredible. I don't think the Stanton is going to handle either the Denon or Ortofon very well.

Good Luck!

When I put my DL-110 on my 300f, it kept making a funny noise when I used the 300f's preamp. I had to use a standalone preamp.

I wouldn't use the built in preamp on the DP-300F, especially with the DL-110. It deserves much better. I agree about the standalone preamp.

Update

I am inclined to install the Denon DL-110 cartridge on the Denon DP-300F TT. It seems that would be a good combination. I will use the Parasound 2-USB Phono. I suppose that since the DL-110 is a high output it could be selected as a MM or MC on the Parasound. Any advice there?
Also, should I move the Ortofon 2M Red over to the Stanton ST-150? If not, what would be a recommended upgrade to the Stanton 680.v3?

Thanks for your advice.

The DL-110 (as with most/all HOMC carts) is designed to be used with the MM setting on your phono stage. It is set up to utilize the 47K loading of a MM phono stage; however, even being "high output", it's output is still about 50% of that of a "standard" MM cart.

Seems like neither is a good fit for the cart.
I would get something else.
The only way to tell is try on both. I would imagine the Stanton will probably sound better.

I wouldn't say that, but it's one of those attempts at the best of both worlds with some sacrifices that have to come with it. The DL-110 is a fine sounding cart and allows people without a MC phono stage to enjoy an MC cart; however, it just doesn't offer as much output as a standard MM cart. Agreed, if you have an adjustable MC compatible phono stage, I would go with a regular low output MC cart.

The DL-110 is going to be too high of output for the MC settings on your Parasound, you will need to use the MM setting with 47K loading.

Denon & Stanton Options

Thanks. I will try the MM setting with 47k load. Hope my 105w AVR will provide sufficient volume.
Still, should I put the Ortofon 2M red on the ST-150 or find another cartridge?
BTW, I have extra headshell for both the Denon and Stanton.
Thanks

I'd go with a different cart for the Stanton (over the Ortofon), but that is just me. Maybe an AT or Shure, but that is just my preferences in that price range. Extra headshells is a bonus (I have 5 for my Dual CS-5000), so swapping is pretty easy for A/B comparison.

You should be able to get enough gain out of the DL-110 and your AVR to sound decent, but don't be afraid to crank up the volume knob--you will have to, to match the volume level of other input sources.

What tonearm does your Stanton ST-150 have - is it the s-shaped tonearm, or the straight tonearm? The dfference is fairly significant as to whether the Ortofon 2M Red is suitable for it, and what cartridges can be recommended for it.
