Denon DP-21F vs DP-23F

Hello there!

I am in the hunt for (another) TT to add to my collection. I have been offered a Denon DP-21f. The asking price seems reasonable (50€) if condition is good enough (I'll check tomorrow evening in person). I'll check if the arm behaves properly, that is my main concern.

I know it is very similar to the DP-23f. I've read both service manuals to compare and their guts look more siblings than cousins. Any idea what the differences are? I believe the headshell is different, but nothing else.

They are practically the same...21f is older model by some years ..I am sure they have the same headshell judging by the pictures, I have 23f but I think it's the same tonearm and hence the headshell...

I use the same headshell on both 23f and 35f...original cartridges are different (dl60 Vs dl80) but you have to check if they are still there or previous owner already changed them for something else...
 
Original DL-60 is there. But no stylus. If I keep the TT I will decide whether to buy a new stylus or maybe install a Shure M95 have in the stuff box.
 
The majority of the dp21f arms use a Denon only headshell, held in place by a top screw rather than the ADC plug in type.

It's a sod to re-wire the dp21f arm, partly because of this, I found.
 
Not much point in having a 21f if you have 23F. But I have my 21F as spare for the electronics for my 51F, the key chips for electronic arm control is the same

I don't own a 23f. I have purchased a 21f and wanted to know the differences, if any. Just curiuosity.
 
For your information, the only difference between 21f and 23f is the headshell and the stock cartridge. In the 21f the headshell is not removeable (you can only rotate it by loosening the screw for an easy cartridge swap) and the stock cartridge is the DP-60 (MM).
In the 23f the headshell is fully removable and the stock cart is the DL-80 (MC)

Everything else is the same.
