Denon DP-23F Problem

After carrying home a mile a Denon DP-23F turntable, with a Stanton cart, unlabeled, I plugged the one remaining RCA jack into a phono input that works. NO SOUND I can hear the needle tracking the record.
Cost: $9, goodwill

Anyone ever heard of this? The platter is quartz locked by a tape head and the quartz locked. Can anyone help me???

You might test the lead continuity from the headshell to under the platter or plinth where they connect to the RCA plugs.
 
Don't have a multitester yet..
Will get one.

I'm going to go and clean the contacts and solder on a new RCA plug.
Si this worth saving? The only other turntables I have are Technics SL-D202 and Technics SL-Q200.
 
Does it have a removeable headsheel that you could swap on the other tt's to see if you can isolate the problem to that cartridge/headshell combo? Or swap a known-good cartridge onto the Denon. When you clean the contacts do the speed/pitch controls and start/stop switches also.
 
It has a removable headshell, but not the standard type.
I swapped a known good cart into the Denon, and nothing.
no pitch controls... This is one of the lower end models, but I believe it to be better then my Technics SL-D202.
I am going to clean the contacts of the arm and then see what happens.
 
What happened to the other RCA cable? Does it look like it was cut, or torn out? If torn away, there may be internal damage. If it was sliced off, then it should be okay to solder in a new one.
 
The jack broke.....
Also, there is no cueing on my Technics (it doesn;t work) and there are many other problems with my Technics. All the autofunctions of the Denon work flawlessly.
 
Well, honestly the Denon is not anywhere near their TOTL, more like the actual BOTL. But if you like it better than your Technics, then that's all that matters. Let your ears be the judge.
 
When you test the continuity, make sure to remove the headshell, or if you need the headshell wires connected to test the tonearm wiring, remove them from the cartridge first. If left connected you could damage the cart.

You might end up needing to replace the cables, as well.

I am going to clean all the contacts, as they are pretty dirty....
 
i believe that it's the arm wireing. Oh, well. Returning to goodwilll....
Get some other person to repair it. I will be shuuting for a Dual 12X9.
