Denon DP-37F Turntable automatic needle drop stops a little short? Help

Hello,

I purchased this table recently and it is like new and works great. There is one small issue.
When I hit the auto start the tonearm sets down just a bit too short and doesn't catch the record.
This is a fully automatic direct drive table. I have the manual but there is nothing about troubleshooting this issue. I'm not very tech savvy with setting and fixing my vintage gear, so if its something simple it would not surprise me. I just need the tonearm to go a little further on to the record and drop. What adjustment is that?
Counter weight, Tracking force, q damping or something else? Also when I set the Q damping to the 1.8 grams to the reference line as directedit says in manual that anti-skating is automatically set, but that little dial does not move at all. I'm confused. Help!

You might check the service manual for the DP-35F at vinylengine.com. It has the lead-in adjustment procedure detailed. What you are looking for on your model is a small hole to the left of the tonearm pivot area. The hole might be covered by a small rubber cap. The DP-35F service manual will tell you how to proceed.

Yes it will look like this I believe on a 37 as well (this pic is the same as 45, 47, 51, 52, 61 and 65's)... You must have the arm in the relative position of where it should drop for a 12" LP to find the screw-long thin flat blade...

Awesome thanks for the info. Any idea how to set the Damping and tracking on this thing. I read the manual but when I set the Q damping to the 1.8 grams to the reference line as directed it says in manual that anti-skating is automatically set, but that anti skating little dial does not move at all? What number should that little dial be at? also 1.8? Thanks

Hey there - that same TT started doing something strange. The Denon DP-37F - When I put on a record and hit play and start to close the lid it gently bumps the tonearm for some reason - it doesn't effect play but its annoying. How do you set this table to not be as "high" when crossing over to record? I have the manual but it says nothing about it. Thanks for any help you many be able to offer!

Older thread. My DP 47F wasn't missing the lead in, but I thought it was a little to far out. Key is hold the start button and it will read the record properly.
That screw hole by the arm does have a screw inside, but no threads inside the hole. I was trying to adjust said screw and it disappeared inside the unit. I opened up the bottom and could not find it. It's suppose to hit the wheel underneath I guess.
And there is another adjustment done from inside the unit I did not touch. Pic below. The philips head is pointing to the adjustment screw. You can see there is a dab lock tight on the mechanism.
Anyway the deck works fine. Last years Sumiko Mounted.

Looks like **** with the flash, but it's clean. I blew the dust out of those switches the best I could with canned air. Can't get a decent house light pic. (Never can)

Is the purpose of the black paint on the copper and metal shutters to not reflect light? My 35F starts spinning as soon as I turn the power switch on, and it does not do auto return (but it does return the arm when I push the stop button). I was assuming it was the three opto-sensors below the red LEDs, but mine had just remnants of the black paint which I assumed was black foam that had deteriorated into black guck (so thank you for the photo). I have just repainted the black on, and am waiting for it to dry to paint a second coat, then fingers crossed the issue will be solved. I really don't want to have to replace the opto-sensors (even though it doesn't seem like the most difficult job in the world - even to a newbie like me) so fingers crossed this fixes the problem.
