Denon DP-47F vs. DP-52F

Anyone have any experience with both of these tables? I have the 52F (and absolutely adore it), but there's a 47F up on my local CL and I'm wondering if there's any real difference in performance. Both seem to have the same measurable specs per their VE entries, both are gorgeous, both use the Q-damping servo tonearm which I love, and both have real wood veneer on the plinths.

Are they basically the same turntable, just different years? I know my 52F is from '82 and the 47F is from '85.

I gotta say I love servo tonearm decks from this era. Missed out on getting a second Sony PS-X600 on the cheap last week, but them's the breaks.

Wow this is something I'm actually familiar with. I've had both of these models as I was kind of in a Denon mood for a bit a few years back. You love the 52F, stick with it. No real need to buy the other. The only real difference if I remember is the size of the plinth. I know the grass always looks greener, but your money could be spent elsewhere on your system.

Thanks, that was what I figured but it's nice to hear from someone who's had both.
 
DCH, I too think you'll not gain anything going from a 52F to a 47F, and I just sold my 52F a few weeks ago as I liked my PS-X600 slightly more. I also have two JVC QL-Y5F decks, so guess that puts me in the servo-tonearm fan club.
 
I have the 45F and the 52F. I cant really tell any difference between them, other than styling. Both great tables.

I also have the JVC QL Y5F. It likes my heavier cartridges a bit more.

I love servo tonearm decks, although so far I like my 52F more than my X600. What put the Sony in the lead for you?
 
"I have no experience with Sansui TTs, but owned both the Sony and a Denon DP-52F. The Denon had a Orton OM-30, while the Sony has AT211EP cart. I kept the PS-X600 for a few reasons, for one it wasn't working right and thanks to my tech, it is perfect now. I've read that era of servo-tonearm Denons can develop glitches over time and some of the issues are non-repairable. Second, the Sony sounds just as nice as the Denon, if not better. Third, I also have two JVC QL-Y5F decks, so I wanted to unload something while it was functioning properly. Nothing wrong with the Denon, in fact the looks may be more appealing than the Sony, I just decided not to keep it."

Six of one, half dozen of the other; Sony has problems with electronic components also. Fact is, if one was immune to "glitches", either the Sony or the Denon, the one with immunity would have been the only one sold and surviving today.
