Hello everybody in this forum. Yesterday I bougth a Denon Turntable DP-52F with Sumiko Talisman S cartridge in a Thrift store. The turntable is very good condition only have some marks on the dust cover and the stylus in the cartridge also ( I saw through a magnifying glass). I want to know any commentaries or experiences about it. Also I have another Denon Turntable (DP-47F) and I think is wonderful. I wish this DP-52F will be as good or better than DP-47F.
P.S. : I know that Sumiko talisman S is Moving Coil cartridge but I have only a Parasound Preamplifier with MM phono input (78dB phono and phono overload 220mV), my question is: Can I use it like it is or not? . Thank you and Regards.

There isn't enough gain in your MM phono stage to hear your MC properly. I owned a Talisman S for nearly 20 years with no problems at all. I only used it occasionally which is how it lasted that long. It is an excellent cartridge. I can't believe you found this in a thrift store!!!

That Talisman is a super cartridge. I owned an S for a while, and I'm currently using an Alchemist S, which is the HOMC version. If you can't use the Talisman properly, and it's in decent shape, you can probably sell it for more than you paid for the TT.

I picked up a DP-52F a few months ago from another AKer. I was intimidated by the technological complexity of the deck and originally intended it to be a placeholder until I could find another Technics SL-1600 (one of the few hi-fi pieces I've deeply regretted selling).

After living with it a while, I think I've underestimated the Denon and have decided it's a keeper, at least for the immediate future.

Good score!

I bought my DP-52F from a local audiophile for $125 a few months ago. I really like it a lot, though I'll need to find another 'table for my DL-103. Anybody ever done any preventative maintenance on their turntables, particularly cap upgrades? I've read that if a logic circuit goes, you're SOL.
