Denon DP-57L help please

Hi everyone,

I purchased a restored and recapped Denon DP-57L with an Ortofon 2M Bronze about a year ago. Until recently, the unit has been outstanding. I use it with a Mac 1900, Akai EA-A7, and HPM 100's. The issue began about a month ago. I noticed that it was only playing on one channel. I tried unplugging and plugging back in the RCA. But now I don't get any sound coming through the speakers. I can only hear the faint sound coming from the stylus on the record. It also doesn't register any signal coming through on the meters on my EQ. The tuner and tape deck I use both work fine. I tried hooking the turntable up to a preamp and running through some powered speakers. I still have the same results. I can confirm if I unground the table, I do get a hum. I'm really at a loss here. I don't have any experience working on vintage turntables. My previous table was a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC Esprit. With both turntables, the sellers pre-mounted and set up the cartridges. I've never really attempted this on my own. I'm in Brooklyn, in case anyone is local to me. I would appreciate any advice and/or suggestions.

First, do you have something else with a PHONO input? Another amp, receiver, something? Plugging it into a non-PHONO jack won't help. I imagine you may still get "sound" but it's not helpful. If so, plug your turntable in there. Fingers crossed. If still no sound, then . . .
Second, do you have another cartridge? Anything will do. If your replacement cart works, great. If not, the trouble is after the cart but before the input to your preamp. Oh and check the teeeny, tiny little connectors to the cart.
That would require more troubleshooting but this is how you start.
BTW, do you have a second turntable to plug into your MAC and/or mount your Ortofon? This would also be helpful.
