Denon DRA-345R Remote issue

Haven't seen this particular issue for these: I inherited this from a relative a few years ago. It has a remote but it doesn't seem to work. There's an area labeled as the "Remote Sensor"; is it supposed to have some sort of indicator light indicating that it's functional? Otherwise, how do I tell what's wrong? Thanks. (Works great otherwise)

IR (infrared) sensors do not light up. Have you replaced the batteries in the remote? If so, the problem could be in the remote, or it could be the sensor itself. Remotes are available on Amazon.
 
Ya, put new batteries in it. I'll likely try a new one (and I notice others have asked about the remote code).
