We aren't really allowed to discuss pricing in the general forums. That's for the "Dollars and Sense" forum. Really, though, you'd probably learn a lot more just by going to eBay and studying "Completed listings" for the models you're interested in. That will give you an accurate picture of current value.

Of course, eBay is a decent place to buy a turntable too but you need to make sure that the seller knows how to pack and ship a turntable, a difficult and complex task, requiring some experience. Craigslist is another place to look. So are yard sales and estate auctions.

As for parts, Denon neither makes nor stocks parts for these turntables. Here again, eBay is the place to look. You can often find the parts you need on sale there, either as parts or as non-operating tables being offered for "parts or repair".

Well, that's about it. Welcome to AK!

I was once the proud owner of a DP-59L, an awesome table that I traded for a brand new at the time Sony DTC-75ES DAT machine.

Well those were the days when vinyl was on its way out and I bought in to it and dumped all of my vinyl and gear for it. :dammit: :withstpd:

Every now and then I see one for sale and they always go for more than I paid for a new one back in 1987!

thx guys.. point taken on the pricing.. i guess i should have ask more as to what higher end models are still being seen for sale on the market,, i know as you get into the higher
end line the models were limited or used for pro setup type stuff i just dont know those
numbers.

Are you referring to broadcast studio models? :scratch2:

To me, all of these models are higher end DENON`s. I guess because they are higher than the DP-40 I have, which I remember 30 years ago I bought because of the spec`s as well as the unique auto function.
If you have about a $1000 to spend on one of these vintage tables, and have the funds for the many other matching components (amp, preamp, cartridge, etc....), that`s great.
I search from time to time for another vintage DENON, but worry what internal condition would I be investing in? Finding reputable, honest service is very difficult. At least it was for me, and the DENON factory service center was NOT one of them!

As mentioned parts from Denon are no longer available since it's been 30+ years since most of the tables were mfg. Sometimes parts will show up on Ebay. Unless damaged/abused the Denons were well built and should still be in good operating condition but will benefit by being serviced by a competent tech. Unless the OP gets real lucky on CraigsList I'd expect to budget at least $500 for any of these models.

Shame on you! ;)

No offers to sell or buy are permitted in the general forums, only in Bartertown. You can also send the OP A private message but the approach you've taken is Definitely against the forum rules.

To the OP, if you're interested in pursuing this with Brad, you can PM him too but don't reply to him in this thread.

Best Denons are manual tables with at least the option to choose your tonearm. The broadcast market models of Denon were the flagships of the lineup. That said, that line is uncommon in the USA as broadcasters didn't adopt them here. The Denon broadcast tables were marketed with their plinth and tonearm, US broadcasters want their choice of tonearms and the ability to mount their turntable in studio furniture. The included tonearm and same arrangement also affected Kenwood''s L-07D US market success in that field. Which made Technics SP line DD models the dominant broadcast DD turntables in the USA. Which is going OT, but discussing some valid history. The DP 80 is a Denon DD worth considering as an attainable USA available great Denon table.

The Denons are nice, sound and look great. You need to be sure everything is working great as some of the parts can burn out if abused and they aren't easy to replace. If you pick one up, probably a good idea to get it recapped.

The only problem I see with Denon would be where could you get one repaired. I don't know of anyone who specializes in Denon. Any ideas where you could get one repaired?

I answered my own question. Check out BC Electronics.

With much of todays newer "throw away/obsolete" electronics aren't worth repairing, another story with vintage Denon turntables. Might have to look a little but there are a number of places to have them serviced. OP might want to check Ebay for a DP-75, good chance that will be his last turntable.
