Denon help

I'm trying to repair a friend's Denon DP 60 turntable. The 33 and 45 RPM lights turn on when
the buttons are pressed, but the platter won't spin up. I understand that the microcontroller IC in
these turntables is usually the culprit. Does anyone know of a source for help?

Also, does this model use a 3-phase AC motor for the platter?

I sure can't answer your question but would refer you to vinylengine website for more info. Perchance you don't know, they have the manual available for download but you will need to register for access. Denon DP 60

Hmmmmm. Everything i have read the processor is nla, proprietary too.
If its bad, ugh.
Hope its something else
Could be motor issue.

I've been doing some reading, and it's possible that the electrolytic capacitors are the culprit, as
they are over 20 years old, and have never been replaced.
Also, the schematic diagram reveals that the motor is a 4-phase stepper motor, and building a
quadrature - type driver circuit for it would be a nice project. It would detract from the value of
the turntable, but it's better than parting it out.

Post this in the Denon forum of Vinyl Engine and direct it to Capt Mark. He has lots of experience with Denon tables and may be able to help you.

There is a gentleman from Texas on here that has rebuilt and sold quite a few Denon turntables.

Sorry but I forget his name. I bought my turntable from him.
