what probably is a good deal -- Denon integrated, tuner and table, and Infinity speakers (with Emit tweeters) for $50 on New Haven CL. The table looks like one of their lower end models, which is no slam against it, and the tweeters by themselves might be worth the asking price.
No affiliation etc.

Yeah I saw that one this morning and got an itchy nervous feeling from that super low-ball price.

Hmmm. I assumed that the seller simply wanted to get rid of them. Seemed an honest description, unhyped and mentioning that the needle needed replacing. Usually the chain yankers make more of a big deal about the equipment.

just ask yourself - would you sell a big ass pair of infinities like that for $50? the guy knows what he has might not know exactly what they're worth but he definitely knows they aren't worth $50

then again you never know ....

You never know. I got my RS IIs FREE FROM THE TRASH. If someone can throw those away, then someone else can charge a token fifty bucks to have something simlar taken away. May have deliberately put a low price on them to move them quickly, because he has to vacate an apartment by a certain date or move across the country or... who knows why? Who cares (as long as they weren't stolen)?

definitely worth a phone call and say I have $50 when can we meet guarantee though for $50 no time will be set but you'll hear a lot of hemming and hawing

The amount of stuff we all have found on the curb, at the dump, given to us etc. suggests that sometimes people simply want to get rid of things. They may know perfectly well that they are worth much more than they are asking for, but it happens all the time -- they may even take pleasure in making the buyer happy.
