Also keeping the power supply in good order, free of ripple, and voltages adjusted per schematic keeps these IC filled, technologically loaded to the brim wonders reliable and functioning as they should. Critical on these machines.
 
Not sure why I put the ?, but yes it has been recapped .

Here's a list of what's been done:

  • All the electrolytic caps were changed to Nichicon Fine Gold (FG) and Muse
  • The CDS photo sensors for arm lift have been replaced
  • All specs were adjusted with an oscilloscope- speed and tape head as well
  • The motor has been lubed
  • The arm has been lubed and the counterweight screw was changed (no sagging arm!)
  • VTA screws/tube along with the arm were cleaned and lubed
  • All the controls have been cleaned, and the foam for the buttons updated

I get it now - that is one spectacular looking (and I bet sounding) table. Can't wait to hear what you think of it sonically !

The S Arm and headshell were optional according to the owners manual. Also according to the manual, only the small and medium-small weight rings were included. I do not think that the full weight set is included. But I do have my eyes on a couple of used sets just in case.
 
I'm thinking about ordering a Sumiko Blue Point Special EVO III Lo to use. I can get a brand new one for only $400. According to the Cartridge Compliance chart on the Vinyl Engine it will match the tonearm as will my Signet MK111e cartridge.
 
I never heard a belt driven table that is a steady as a great direct drive table. That said tone arms make a big difference, and it all depends how the turntable interfaces with the cartridge. I would spend bigger bucks on a cartridge right now than on a Scout. Now if you were going with a Prime Signature with the Synthetic arm the speed controller the external ring, then I would agree with you. But that's 6 to 10 times the money?
 
Received my Denon DP -59L yesterday.

Right now I'm sitting here listening to Pink Floyd's A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

I did purchase an extra tonearm tube, that way it'll be easy to swap cartridges.

Beautiful.

Just have to remember to leave for work in 20 minutes .
