Denon PMA-2000IVR in the nude.

I just bought a PMA-2000R as an impulse buy. Seller says he's not sure if it works, but I'm willing to spend some time on the repair myself if needed.

Since these units are relatively modern, I'm assuming I don't have to worry too much about obsolete replacement parts? (i.e. outputs) Anyone know what the MOSFETs they are? I hope it's just user error or at worse a fuse.
Only reason I bought it is because of my newly acquired PMA-757 which has impressed the hell out of me. Hopefully this is better.

I tried to work out a deal on a PMA-2000IVR at one point, but it didn't work out.
I researched the amp pretty extensively and it looks very, very nice. I wish more companies would focus on building really high quality integrated amps like they do.

It does look beautiful on the inside too.Curiosity got the best of me tonight and I decided to open up this Denon integrated amplifier. I had seen pictures on the net with this open but wanted to see for myself. The inside is very well laid out with nice symmetry. This thing is a beast.
This is exactly the integrated amp I want to buy in the next few weeks. I can't afford an amp for my Mac C37 preamp so I just put it up for sale and want to buy the 2000ivr.
Please tell me how it sounds and are you satisfied with the sound? I've read it is robut and smooth sounding, but lacking in detail and dynamics. Is this true?
I followed that one but didn't pull the trigger. I've read that the earlier versions were a little too smooth and boring, According to Sam Telling, he said it would be the kind of amp his grandmother would love to listen to. But I'd still like to try one out, and at $150 like you got it for.

Is this the A100 anniversary edition? You didn't have it long. How was the sound and how is the phono stage?
I've dreamed of the full anniversary kit...amp, sacd, tt, cart. Heck, evern the avr and bluray.
Karl, Did you buy this one?But my interest now is on the little brother, PMA-1510AE (70 Watts RMS, 8 ohms), which has also dual mono block, same mosfet design and same selected components. Really well build...

I don't find it lacking in detail or dynamics actually I find it to do great in both aspects. Very detailed sound that made my speakers image like I've never heard. It is very smooth sounding, I find it easy to listen to. I don't find it boring, rather very interesting to listen to, it brings me into the music. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
definitely an amp series i've been watching the past few years. i have heard that the PMA-100 has an improved preamp section, which some have noted as the only minor weakness in these beasts.
also note that the power supply isn't dual-mono, though it might appear to be at first glance. you've got one power transformer for each voltage rail, essentially (and there are only two main filter caps). to have a dual-mono supply, you need at least four filter caps so that each channel can have its own +/- supplies.

Thanks bryblob. That is a nice review. Sounds like it may do the trick in my large lively living/dining room. Smoothness to counteract the liveliness of the room, yet dynamic and detailed.

I have been running my Denon PMA 2000IVR for about two weeks now through a pair of NHT Super Two's, and am beyond impressed with the sound! The phono stage is excellent, and the Marantz CD 5003 cd player just jumps out at you, and slaps your face with detail and articulation. I paid $100.00 for her in mint condition on craigslist here in Austin TX, and after 30+ years of being an Audio fanatic, can safely say that this is one exceptional integrated Amp! Period! The preamp section is vastly improved over previous versions I have heard, and would recommend the Denon PMA 2000IVR to anyone looking for a good clean lush sounding integrated amp.

I just picked one of these beasts up on a whim, the Denon PMA 2000IVR--i can safely say that this amp is not boring or lacking in detail. Plenty of power, seems to be more than the rating says, feels like the music can't wait to blast out of the speakers at high volume, but very full sounding even at the softest levels too--for a few hundred bucks, unbeatable.

I new somebody that had the 2000. Nice Amp.
He had a Yamaha B 1 and the talking heads on here kept saying that something could go wrong with the amp and it was not serviceable. Like a fool I listened to them. Had a channel issue that I seriously doubt contact cleaner couldn't have cleared up. $100. End of rant!

I owned one of these for awhile until I sold it a few months back…
This is the one to get for sure if you like the 2000iv. They refined the design to cater to audiophiles. I've been interested it since it's release.

I have one of the original PMA2000s. No remote capabilities. It is a very good amp. Manufacture date is 1997. If used in the direct mode, Volume control is still in line, it is very transparent. Very clean sweet highs and great bass control. I have a fair collection of amps. This is right up there with the Yamaha AS3000. Not quite but close. Bottom line is: I never even considered any Denon equipment in the past, but this amp changed my mind.
