Hello all. New to the forum. Did a lot of research on here while deciding on what to buy after my kenwood vr 4090 gave up the ghost. Found a denon pma 700 for sale locally and decided to pick it up. I've always had a thing for the simple design of the 80's black integrated amps. That and i only use two speakers, so i've been looking at going to a stereo amplifier or integrated for a while now. Was asking 125, but i ended up getting it for 100. This thing blows my kenwood out of the water! Can't believe they made a model above this!
With that being said, i noticed that wood sides were an option on the pma 700 and standard on the 900. I've never seen a pic of a 700 with the wood sides however. I have some black walnut laying around, and am thinking about making my own custom sides. Was wondering if anyone who has the 900 with the stock wood sides can give me a little info on them. Mainly how thick they are, and if they are notched out at all near the front. From the pics i have seen, they appear to be completely flat, even though the front bezel of the 900 is slightly wider than the case?
My other question is should i adjust the idling current to stock specs? I've heard that you don't need to touch the idling current unless you've done any repairs / mods to the internals. But just want to make sure.
