Got this thing for free. The cover was not secured so thought maybe something is wrong with it. The upper input selector switches has pushbars because the electronics are in the back and these were loose. I put everything back together and hooked it up. Everything appears to work perfectly and the amp construction appears to be first rate. This amp has a really great sound period. I prefer to run it in direct coupled and it sounds sweet. I have it hooked up to a pair of Polk SDA2 and it is a perfect fit. Amazing what people discard.

I just got a 770 about a month ago, I think it sounds pretty good too, I especially like the subsonic filter for phono. I have noticed the right channel will start to cut out, if I push the relative source button in and out it sounds fine. I have read this is a problem with these particular amplifiers, problematic switches. You mentioned the push bars where loose any direction on tightening them up? My source display was out but replacing the two lamps will solve that issue.
