Denon PMA-860 input selector and balance control are not working

Hi all
Got this Denon PMA-860 recently.
It has a problem with the input selector switch and balance control.
To select a source you need to rotate a knob few clicks past a desired selection in either direction. This makes the last ones on the right and on the left unelectable.
Left channel has a very low distorted output. But if I switch on Source Direct to bypass balance, both channels work well.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi Sergei, I just saw the message you sent me and figured I'd reply here. My PMA-860 had very similar problems. My issues were solved with a thorough cleaning of the input selection switch as well as the rest of the switches and potentiometers in the unit. Also, in the future I would suggest posting amplifier questions in the solid-state subforum, as they will likely get more attention there. There are lots of people here that actually know what they are doing, unlike myself.

Good luck on getting the amp up to snuff!

Sounds like a few dirty switches and controls to me.If they are slide switches they will need to be removed and disassembled to be cleaned properly.

The balance problem solved with cleaning! Input selector is a slide switch. It improved a bit but still does not work properly. Guess it will have to be removed and disassembled.
