Denon POA 1500 Amp Good or Just OK?

I discovered a Denon POA 1500 today at a Thrift Store. They seem to think it is quite valuable and was asking $749.99 for it. From my understanding, the method of testing is to plug it in and see if it powers on. if it does , it goes out on the floor for sale. I am sure they check e bay to see the present offers on the models in order to price it. When I picked it up to look at it, the front glass was askew and loose. Not just loose but unattached from the front of the unit. It also had a couple dents, one in the bottom and a small one in the top. Nothing really deep though. The wood on the ends seem to be in good shape with the coating peeling up from the bottom a little, kinda curling. Bottom line, is this unit of a quality to purchase at around $700 if it is in the need of repair? I don't know much about this model but understand Denon is a good quality name, am I correct? Any info will help!!!!20210701_172150[1].jpg 20210701_172051[1].jpg 20210701_172150[1].jpg 20210701_172051[1].jpg 20210701_172056[1].jpg 20210701_172123[1].jpg

That's a bit stiff. Especially with cosmic issues. I don't think they sold for a lot more new. Chuckle in front of them and move on.

Welcome to Audiokarma !!!

And pass on that. Great amp, beautiful, but that's absurd pricing. Offer them 300, cash. If they balk, walk.

Ask yourself what a parts unit would be worth, because there's a chance that is what you'd be buying. FWIW, last summer I sold my near-mint POA-2800 on CL for $440. It's a newer model in the same Denon lineage 1500-2200-2400-2800.

Nice amp - I used to have one, and it's one I regret selling.

If it were fully restored (not just cleaned/serviced, but a full restoration) and looked the part too, it would be worth what they are asking. Unrestored but working ok, with some bumps and bruises... $300? $350?

Lovely amp but 700 in that condition is way too much. 300 would be a fair price as is.
