Denon PRA-1000 horribly distorted

I got one of these for free from a local hifi shop that took it in in trade. No matter what I do, the output is horribly distorted. I disassembled and cleaned the volume pot, but that doesn't seem to be the problem because it's also distorted at the tape outs, no matter which input I use.

Any ideas about where to start? Apparently it's a pretty decent preamp and it would be helpful to get running again.
