The AK gang typically seem to be huge fans of Caig DeOxit... and I am one of the believers!
However... how many of us are aware of the various variations of the product that are available, as well as the other Caig products that are complementary?
I assume that most of use use DeOxit in the 5oz. aerosol can format... more specifically known as DeOxit D5 ( part # D5S-6). This product is actually 5% DeOxit, 75% petroleum naptha, and 20% propellant.
There is a 100% DeOxit product available (in various packages..) but I get the feeling that most of us pretty much only use the 5% solution, as it seems to be the best all-round choice for general purpose cleaning.
Does anyone out there use the other variants for special situations? I can imagine that the 100% DeOxit solution may be appropriate in a cases where precise application is possible ( i.e. fully exposed contacts, connectors, etc...), or oxidation is more severe.
Caig's ProGold is promoted as a treatment for plated contact surfaces in particular... the seem to be pushing it as a protectant treatment and contact enhancer as opposed to regular DeOxit, which is promoted primarily as a cleaner, and perhaps secondly as a lubricant.
Any comments? anecdotes? examples?
