Deoxit D5 or faderlube

In another post a user said not to use Deoxit to clean volume pots on MC 2120 amp because they are carbon potentiometers and Deoxit shortens their life. It was recommended to use faderlube. I got D5 because I've seen it recommended so much. Did I screw up?
