just got the 40th anniversary edition of Derek & The Dominos - Layla and other assorted love songs from HDtracks.com @ 24-bit 96kHz and this is definitely the best sounding version available even over the SACD and vinyl versions. sounds amazing and well worth the price.

If you're interested PBS has been running a video of Clapton and Winwood on stage. Those guys are still pretty decent, pretty amazing considering their age and lifestyles. Fun to watch, looks like they still don't like each other much.

Is this the Deluxe Edition housed in a plastic outer case with a bonus DVD as well? Most of the Deluxe edition cds that I have purchased are excellent IMO

this is digital download only in High definition lossless audio and if you put it on physical media it would have to be a dvd because it is 3.05 gigs. this version is 24-bit 96kHz vs. the cd version at 16-bit 44.1kHz so it sounds much better and even sounds better than the vinyl versions and even my SACD.

very cool but is that the live at madison square garden show? if so I have that one on blu-ray and its pretty awesome.

I have not heard this HD version but I just bought the new RB "Layla and other assorted love songs" just released in 2011 by Universal Music (polydor). It seems to be mixed as good or better than any other DATD I have heard (including the SACD). It also has a great 2nd CD that has some rare takes including some live recordings from the Johnny Cash show. It was Mastered by Ellen Fitton in 2010.
