I'm looking to replace the Variable Resistors on the control board of a Technics SL-1500, which is the same as that in the SL-150 and SL-1300.
VRs 1 and 2 are the ones that really need replacing but I thought I would do the same for 3 and 4 given their age and that I would remove them from the board for cleaning. It seems best to save the De-Oxit and put new, modern equivalents in.
The service manual states that both speed adjustment pots (VR1/ VR2) are 2kohm but does not list a power rating in Watts as it does for the ordinary carbon and metal film resistors. Should I follow the implication that 2k VR's of any power rating can be used?
VR3 is also 2k but, as with VR1/ VR2, the service manual specifies nothing other than the resistance value. The same is true for VR4 which is 500 ohm. These 2 are of a different style to the others, are there technical terms to distinguish each style?
All of the VRs have stoppers at the max CW CCW points and therefore cannot be rotated past those points. does this mean that they are 'single turn' as opposed to 'multi turn'? If so, does this mean that multi-turn VRs are unsuitable for the applications?
