I saw this listing last night and emailed the guy and here's his response to my query as to what was in the system:

"MAC 1700 Receiver

MQ 101 Environmental Equalizer

ML-2C Floor Standing Speakers

Original owner – Non Smoking Environment

MAC 1700 and MQ 101 include original wood enclosures – Both in excellent condition

MAC 1700 was just serviced by an Authorized McIntosh service center. Technician remarked that it was the “nicest one he had ever seen”.

ML-2C Floor Standing Speakers work, but need to be re-coned. Cabinets are in excellent condition with original shipping bases still attached.

It's at an estate sale at Quarton and Telegraph and the set was still there at 2:00PM when I stopped by.

Stuff looks nice, but it's not what I'm looking for so I'll pass it on.

The receiver goes for around $350, the eq for $230, and the speakers around $250-300 (after foaming). Add in for condition and wood cases another $200.

Total sellable value is around $1000. Not worth the effort, unless the price drops to around $500 in my opinion.
 
Agreed, but if you want to be the end user here, it's not a bad deal at all, as shipping that stuff would run another $300 easy.

I wonder it anybody bit on them????

Maybe the stuff didn't sell and they'd be willing to negotiate?
 
I do not understand. If the average for these is in the range of $1,000, then it is not a bad buy. Thinking it is only worth getting if about $500 has the ring of a flipper. I'm sure if you had the setup you'd laugh at anyone who offered you $500 for it.

These are all true statements and I would indeed 'flip' it (resell for profit) if the gear was available at $500. If I wanted a vintage mac setup, then the asking price is certainly fair, if not a good deal and it would be worth the effort for sure.

Well, that's why I posted it here and emailed all the SMAC guys.

As to taking $500 for it, if that's your best offer and it's gone w/o dealing with selling it via CL or other avenues like Audiogon or eBay and all the work involved with that, it might not be a bad deal. Like I said, those are some BIG speakers

More money than donating it :yes:
