I'm not sure if they will put out any bass since I've never seen or heard any speaker in cabinets like that, the ad is still posted as of this morning. I Googled that phone number, it appears the guy is in real estate as he's usually offering homes for sale, maybe he found these in one of them?? The phone number is in the Pontiac, MI exchange, like any other big city, there's good and bad areas of that particular one. I wonder if we have any there that could check them out for you?? :scratch2:
 
Ad says Royal Oak, so I sent him an email asking if I could audition them.
I'm really not able to handle them right now, but I can let you guys know more and maybe hold them for Fest pickup if someone wants them.
 
They are in Royal Oak, MI and the crossovers are missing so testing them might be tricky unless you have a spare crossover laying around. All of my altecs are 16 ohm drivers, so I don't think I can help get them tested. Redboy and I have been talking about them and I think he was leaning towards letting the seller see what he can do locally and see what happens.
 
Well, I'll see how he responds. Royal Oak is right next door, so it's no big deal to go there. I did Google up Karlson and boy, do they get slammed; no love at all. Those enclosure probably aren't the best for bass, so aside from historical furniture and or wood value, they probably aren't something the guys here would want to keep those drivers in.
 
I have a pair of Eminece 1600hz corssovers I was going to let RussinOhio borrow, I can wire them up if you want to borrow them for an audition, of course the seller will hear them and change his mind to keep them. E-mail me if you need them, Dave. :yes:

What I meant was in comparison to the 604B's I owned. My interest would only be the drivers and not the cabinets.

Hmmm, I'd love those cabinets if they're in good shape!! My 604-8G's put out good bass, I never had a 604B to compare it to though, one has to remember, a 604 woofer is really a 515 woofer, the later 16" frame versions were the last of the alnico series, these in fact are the same as the 604-8H with the mantaray horn, these have the plastic tangerine phase plugs, one can tell from the newer style rear covers. Let's see if anyone gets an audition, the worst that can be wrong with them is loose tangerines, an easy fix, Dave.

The story goes that he sent his crossovers to a guy in southfield that built a pair of amps he is also trying to sell. In the meantime, the gentleman moved prior to completing the modded crossovers and the owner can't get in touch with him. He seems to be well aware of how good they sound and what they are worth (only as cheap as they are because of the missing crossovers)

I know Redboy is really only interested in the drivers, as well. Maybe Redboy and Dave can work something out with Dave getting the cabs and Nate getting the drivers. I only suggest Nate because he was the first person to contact me about my offer to pickup.

No worries here, I'm moving into a new home in a few weeks and really shouldn't be spending any money. But if it doesn't work for Nate I'm still interested.

He hasn't responded to my email at all
 
I got this response overnight:

"I've had so many people wanting to buy them. I have not sold them yet. I think I'm going to hold on to them for a while. At least a month.

So we can put this one on the rear burner for a bit. I'll bet he's waiting to get the crossovers back, which I don't blame him for at all. If he reposts, I'm going to see if I can audition them, regardless of his price, just so I know what they're all about. :yes:
