So, which is it? I was looking for a cheap stylus to check out an AT211EP cart that came on a used table. I found this. Their description doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Does anyone here have any experience with "My Needle Store"? TIA

That seller often provides conflicting specifications in their listings. Makes me wonder whether they really understand phono cartridges and needles.
 
I bought stuff from them, but I would stay away from their needles...look at the feedback on eBay and you can see it's hit and miss.
 
Well, exactly Kent. I would like to know which is it? The price is great on a hard to find stylus, but the ad makes me feel the same way that skriefal does.
 
A needle 0.4 x 0.7 mil is a conical tip. But it has a back and front small cut to make it a little like an elliptical. It´s not a real elliptical.

A true elliptical tip should have a bi-radial profile, a shaved ball point is really neither, but they are and have been sold as elliptical tipped. It's possible they show less "pinch effect" inner groove distortion but lack the finer tracing ability of a bi-radial elliptical tip.

I have purchased items from My Needle Store because being here in Canada shipping costs and wait times are reasonable. Shipping mistakes have been made but always quickly corrected although I marvel at how certain mistakes could possibly be made. Having said that, this seller has always corrected the problem and in my most recent order included a card outlining steps to correct such issues. This is acknowledgement from Needle Store that they want to make errors right and that they seem to know they make a lot of them.

An issue I have is who supplies Needle Store with their styli? Knowing this would help with the often spotty descriptions.

Being a Quebec company language could be an issue as well.

Yes, I agree.
 
I prefer avoiding less than reliable sellers or those who do not describe their products correctly. If someone reliable has what I need, they tend to get my business.
 
Seems to me I've seen 0.4x0.7 described as being a "mild elliptical" but I'm not really sure. Anyone seen such a beastie sold as such?
