Thought you guys might find this interesting, as there is not a ton of info on the various Diatone models in English. Picked these up in NJ on the cheap, as I am visiting home in CT. Not sure how they ended up where they ended up, but I am glad they did. These speakers have excellent build quality. Good amount of bracing, and pass the basic knock test pretty much all over the cabinet. The drivers are hefty, crossover and cabling is also bomb proof. These are very nice, but definitely deserve real veneer and some sprucing up of the cabinets.
They do an excellent job of recreating timbre accurately which is a big deal for me, haven't had a chance to do a ton of detailed listening though as I am at my parents' house. Once I sort out the stiff cloth surround on the woofers, I suspect that these will send my KG4's packing. In appearance, they look like they are competing with the yamaha ns-1000 / 2000s, not sure how they compare in sound as I haven't had an opportunity to hear those speakers.
I am going on a quick vacation with the gf to celebrate finishing my masters, but am planning on restoring these when I get back to Boston in 2 weeks and will report in to the thread for help / feedback then. In the mean time enjoy some pics of some pretty rare (at least in the US/Europe) speakers. Unfortunately I could not get the woofer out, ,will try some more prying to snap pics in the AM tomorrow. Let me know if there is anything you guys are curious about and I can work on pics. First speaker shot is tweeter, second is mid.
