He could have atleast wiped it off. Even 15 minutes of cleaning would make it somewhat presentable. :sigh:
 
It is my experience, that if you clean an item that otherwise needs other work, then you will receive a negative feedback and an unhappy buyer. People seem to think that if the item is clean then it needs no work and will be a great addition to a collection, this piece does not appear to be.
 
I don't know about the mould but I've cleaned many an item that was worse than that. Wish they had a pic with the cover off. Not a bad price though.
 
No barnacles. :scratch2: Looks more like good old fashioned crud than mold.

Really not that bad if you look at it closely - face seems to be relatively free of scratches. Might clean up quite nicely.

Crud comes off, scratchy pots ain't no big thang. Might there be other issues? Of course.
 
If you look at some of the pics of the back you can see rust and paint bubbling. It may not have been under water but it was near it at least.
 
Pics are elargable zoomable as monty found. My experiences with garage sales is that nobody spends more than $10 on any piece of equipment. Ive got a retail store full of equipment and only sell on eBay because noone comes in to spend cash. If the seller had spent time cleaning off what looks to me like adhesive, maybe they wouldnt have time to list, buy, and ship items, also have a family life also. Often times, as I stated earlier, cleaning an item that is obviously in need of help just opens the door for fraudulant buyers. This item is clearly in need of help beyond what the seller is willing to do themselves.

So if I wanted to sell my 1999 pickup, with 205K miles, I should drive it through a muddy field before I put a for sale sign on it?
 
I guess it is better to offer it up for sale than going off to the metal recycler. Someone with some time and talent could do something with it could bring it back to life. Whether or not it is worth it would be up to that person. I am into musclecars and have seen many a life brought back into a classic car that should have been otherwise made into chef boyardee cans if there was enough good metal left to make any :D Just my 2 cents
 
The item closed today so I sent a message with an offer. I figure 50 total dollars to my front door would be ok.

Okay. Start the screaming at me. :D
