Difference between 2000a & 2000X

Hello AKers,I was looking through ebay and I'm seeing a 2000a & 2000x.I was wondering what the difference was between the two.I don't know that much about these models. Some years back I acquired a 1000a in near mint physical condition with the exception of a missing balance knob that I put in a Shop in Chicago in Lincoln Square to have refurbished, never to get it back. Come to find out this guy is famous for this sort of thing. After that I never gave very much attention to the early Sansui SS gear,Which I regret because a friend of mine used to have a resale shop where he had a lot of early HK & Sansui, SS gear.I was also wondering if they were Cap coupled or direct coupled? I was wondering this about the xx1 series also.I have a Marantz 2230 non restored, that is cap coupled and I love the sound so I'm keeping my eyes open for other brands with this amp configuration.I would appreciate any info about these types of Sansui receivers. Thanks.

The 2K A and X are improved versions of the original 2K. Both are cap coupled and except for small board variations are pretty much identical. 32WPC for the "A" and 39 for the "X". They are both highly regarded. Very good sound, very stable. No real problems with all versions of the 2000. The biggest problem with them is the Noisy 2sc458 transistors. Both should be recapped to get the most from them.
