Difference between Shure M44-7 cartridge and M44C cartridge? What is the correct stylus for M447 cartridge for playing 78rpm recordings?

Hello, good morning friends forum. This time I wanted to see the differences between a cartridge Shure M44-7 and M44C cartridge. In view look the same, with the difference. That the M44C is discontinued, and the M44-7 as tendo understood is manufactured in Mexico. I wonder what is the difference between each model, the M44-7 is recommended for disc jockey's and consider which of the two has better sound quality, not to mention that both have 9.5 mV response frequencies. And finally, if there is a stylus for playing 78 rpm recordings with the M44-7 and whether it is advisable. From already thank you.

The difference is between the stylus, not the cartridge. 44-7 stylus tracks at 1.5-3.0g, has an output of 9.5mV. 44C tracks at 3-5g, has 9.3mV output. Both are conical.

Here's an aftermarket 78 stylus for the M44 cart:

There are better but I've covered that in past threads when you asked the question.

Hello sberger, always so attentive. Green stylus would correspond to the model N44-3 for 78s right? The stylus is compatible with M44-7? Always for recordings of 78 is best conical tip that an elliptical truth? regards

Yes the N44-3 is compatible for the M44-7. I'm having some difficulty with your English, but I think you're asking what's best for 78's? I find 3.0 mil elliptical that tracks at least over 3g.

What I was trying to consult is, if for playing 78s, is better an elliptical or spherical stylus. Moreover, there is a difference between the old M447 with the new current M447 sold now? I have understood that the old model was manufactured in the USA, and now in Mexico, and many say the new M447 does not have the same quality as those of the shure 70's.

Elliptical for 78's is my favorite.

The current day 44-7 is fine. If you want to go up in quality a bit, find a N55E stylus and you can use that with the 44-7 cartridge.
