Different Cartridge Output Voltage - Distortion? Technics SL-1200MK2

Hi - I just acquired a Technics SL-1200MK2 that came with an unused Ortofon concorde Nightclub S DJ cartridge.

I'm getting distorted sound that sounds like an over-driven signal/over-modulation from this TT when connected to an otherwise properly-functioning amplifier with an (tested and good) MM phono stage.

My question: Is it possible that this cartridge has too high of an output for my phono preamp? It certainly sounds like the signal is over-driven. The distortion isn't horrible, but it's there and renders the tt unusable as a result.

If it is really setup well and all adjustments are on, Take a microscopic look at the stylus. If I have any type of fuzz on my Line Contact it will drive me out of the room. If you plug a MM cart into a MC input it will distort. I do not think you could overload the MM input with any MM cart output.
 
I think I solved the problem by spending about an hour tweaking the tracking force and weight. It sounds much better now. Thanks for all your replies and time.
 
Since it is a "DJ" cartridge, it has a fairly high recommended tracking force of 3 grams. Do you have it set to 3 grams?
