Digidesign 888/24 as Stand-alone DAC

Anyone here with experience of using this as a standalone DAC?

I heard about this from a Chinese audiophile forum, so I decided to try one.

Got one yesterday, and plug in my headphone system. It sounds pretty amazing at the first hearing. Clean, detailed and loud sound. I changed the default input/output from 4dbu to -10 dbf. I need to do some A/B comparison to see if this is indeed a good cheap DAC option.

I also heard that mod the power from switched to linear will further improve the sound.

Is that considered an upgraded version of 888/24? It has 24/96 and more input/output options

Yes, 002 comes after 828 and has capacity 24/96. Also optical output and input and it is firewire. There is no need for a PCI card.
