digital audio connection issue from Panasonic

Hi folks. Don't often post in this forum but now I have a question. We have been doing a bit of remodeling and I have run all necessary wires/connections to television from a remote spot, about a 30' run.
I have a Panasonic TC P50ST60 Plasma HDTV and have run a optical digital cable from tv to a Schiit Modi Uber 2 and then to Marantz 2270 for audio, hooking up to tape monitor for output. When watching normal cable television I had fine audio connection and sound from the Marantz but streaming Long Strange Trip from Amazon Prime the sound was a steady monotone flutter sound and not the audio associated with stream. Is there some encryption in the stream that doesn't allow for this type of reproduction or something else? The schiit has a usb and SPDF inputs as well, and have not explored these as options yet. The tv does have usb but only composite for av cables, not spdf.
I have tested the cable channel output and get fine audio, not streaming, what is wrong here?

thanx in advance,

Geoff

A standard DAC will only convert PCM digital to analog output. If, for some reason, this movie came through as Dolby Digital it wouldn't work. But, usually the result is just no sound at all.

You could check the TV audio/digital output settings and Amazon app(?) or the language settings for the stream to see if there is anything that says to output only PCM or stereo, just to try to force that setting to be sure about that aspect.

I have efforted all menu options and have found no reference to audio type being changeable. Both Panasonic and app are very limited menu options.
thanx for the input, and I suspect you are in the right ball park, but still searching for the sound.
