DiPole Antenna Question

fly4x4

SofaKingSmooth
Hello,

After much review of this forum I built my own DiPole antenna using 300 ohm antenna wire. I currently have it inside but want to mount it outside for best reception. It will be mounted just under the eves of the roof of my 2 story home and then run into my McIntosh MX-113. How great is the risk that it would be hit by lightning and fry my 113?

As great as getting overcurrent into your power grid during lightning.
There is no specifically higher risk. The cable itself is still isolated?

Wouldn't it be easier to just use rabbit ears and then run 75 ohm coax cable back to the tuner? I can't see how a 300 ohm antenna mounted outside would be any better (I'm thinking that it would just pick up more noise).

I've never had an indoor antenna do better then an outdoor antenna. I pickup more noise from other electronics and appliances inside the home than I ever did from outdoor antennas.
