Direct Drive Automatic Turntable ?

I have a Pioneer PL 530 Turntable and had a question for everyone. In automatic mode should the the tonearm fully return to the arm rest after side one has completed playin (repeat is off)? The tonearm on mine doesn't quite make it fully to the rest position on the arm rest where I can lock it down. It needs a final nudge that I manually do. Thanks alot.

Nice table. It should return all the way to the rest post without the nudge.

Go to Vinyl Engine and sign in. Then you can get the free downloadable owners manual and service manual. This will help you fix it.

I've got a PL 500 which does the same thing. The fix is described in a thread started by FastLoud not long ago. Technical directions follow....go to Search This Forum and type in Pioneer tonearm return...you'll find the thread on page 2...I hope. Good luck.

There's a tiny piece of foam on the cam that moves the arm back to the rest on the PL-530. It decomposes and falls to pieces. The fix is to make a replacement block of foam, about a 3/16" cube as I recall, and glue it on.

Got it fixed, thank you guys!

I was nervous to open it up but got it fixed in about 30 minutes. It works like a charm. Made a new little foam cube and glued it in place. Awesome. Thanks again!!!!!!!!
