Discogs help

So, I am dutifully entering my LP collection into Discogs, and wonder what is the proper protocol for entering new information or info that's been logged differently from what I have on the particular release? I tried once on an old junk record and got replies back that while not negative, only confused me more. I've pretty much just been getting as close as I can and leaving it at that, but would love to contribute and help others.

Thing is you better be 100% sure of the info you’re putting in or folks will get NASTY. Don’t use the app, login online and it’s pretty easy.
Edit: I say “better” only because I’ve plugged some info in before and got some really rude comments.

really rude comments defending existing bad info!
 
I have entered a few albums....most people have been helpful...never really had a nasty response. I was worried the first time I entered one but went to the blog and asked for a review before I posted. Had good input from those who knew and have been more confident since....
 
I've submitted two albums, both done on line. Including some good-quality photos with your submission will go a long ways toward minimizing any feedback...hard to argue with physical evidence.

Not your fault, most of those guys live for this stuff and to me it's like doing your taxes every time you want to enter in a record. It's like computer programming, you really have to enjoy it to be good.
 
I used to enter a lot of releases as I have several friends that have small punk labels, Familiarize yourself with the submission guidelines as there are psychos that think they are in charge of everything on Discogs. I have this link as a separate bookmark on my browser's toolbar so I can double check my entries and cite the specific guideline rules (1.1.1, 1.1.2, etc) in the submission comments section.

I have a handful of contributions there. It should be ok. Others can come along and suggest changes or can change in some instances things theirselves.
I only had some1 get nasty once when I accidently overwrote an entire release or something when I was brand new.
