Discogs Sucks cuz..

1-NO Buyer protection

2-Sellers seem to take DAYS to notify you when something ships.

3-Ratings seem to be all over the damn place and sellers get away with overrating albums all the time. At least eBay weeds this junk out by having extreme buyer protections.

I swear, at least 30% of the records I get off discogs are not as described, whereas 95% of the ones I get off eBay are as described.

I would love to just have a community trust vibe about discogs but my experiences thus far have not been great.

Although I haven't purchase a lot of music from Discogs, what I have I've been very satisfied with and the service.
But, I only purchase from sellers who have a 100% rating and have quit a few transactions under their belt.

I've never used discogs... I do buy on eBay once in a while. And, yes, most of my ebay purchases are as described or better. When there is an issue, it is easy to get it resolved. That has only happened once though, and the seller gave me a full refund immediately no questions asked.

Subscribe here and get into Bartertown. Some good music there.

I guess I have been fortunate. I do not buy many but the ones I have bought were reasonable and the vendors responded quickly for the most part. The one time they did not, it was near a holiday and they sent a message after a couple days explaining the situation.

Maybe I’ve just had better luck but I’ve been very pleased with Discogs purchases so far (prob 30+ at this point). All have been as described or better, shipped fast and packed well. One record looked great but sounded like Rice Krispies and the seller gave me a refund without question (and on a $50 record to boot).

It’s been very useful for comparing different pressings as well to make sure you get the exact version you want - much harder to do on eBay IME.

My experience has been good. Only once I got a record that was badly warped and I believe it got that way during the ride here.
