Discolored 'golden' label on MC240 power transformer ?

I purchased a well-used MC240 for restoration. After receiving it I noticed the label on the M-207A power transformer was discolored; specifically, the area that's usually black was a very light gold or golden-brown. The labels on the 210 A & B had a black background as normal.

I didn't think anything about it until someone suggested it was a sign of overheating. The amp's in pieces at the moment so I cant test the theory out.

Any knowledge about this around here? Does discoloration to gold indicate a heat problem? Or did some labels get printed this way, or simply fade with age?

See an example of this on the top transformer in the attached image. This image isn't my amp but in it the 210A label shows the same fading as mine did.

Hello ogodei

Welcome on AK

I didn't think anything about it until someone suggested it was a sign of overheating No ! don't worried .

See an example of this on the top transformer in the attached image. This image isn't my amp but in it the 210A label shows the same fading as mine did. OK , this picture is a good example . The discolored decal is like this because the black anodisation of the decal is not well made and many becomes discolored because of UV not the heat and this is much better because an output transformer getting hot is not really good

I have a pair of MC-30's, and one got sunlight exposure while the other one did not. Exposed amp has the lighter transformer label color. Transformer itself did not change color at all.
