Discontinued chassis caps found on the Marantz 2230 recap list

Hi,

I'm getting ready to recap my first 2230 and have been busy reading many archived threads and part lists. To the best of my knowledge the chassis caps recommended by many (and on the recap list) are discontinued according to the Digikey website. The filter cap that's discontinued is "P10659," ECE-T2DA222FA 4700uf/200v. The coupling cap that's discontinued is "P10654," ECE-T2DA472EA 2200uf/200v.

So what replacements would you recommend trying to keep the replacements the same diameter as the originals?

It's often impossible to keep the same diameter as older parts. I make up adapter rings or use things like strips of rubber or pipe insulation foam, as needed, to adapt the newer smaller parts.

Rings cut from bicycle innertubes are a cheap and easy way to fatten up chassis caps. Layer as many as necessary to get the desired diameter.

200V caps in a Marantz 2230? That's wildly unnecessary. Get normal parts instead, way easier to get ahold of. And cheaper.

Also don't use 2200 µF as output caps, it's not really suitable. Get at least 4700. Preferred would be 0,1 F or more, but that's impractical.

When going from a 40mm to a 35mm cap I use a 35mm clamp, available from Mouser: part number 80-PYC6041. For the 40mm 4700uF/80V cap I'm using a 35mm 6800uF/80V Panasonic TH-A.
