DIY E-V speaker build

Hey AK,
For my first post I thought I would share a DIY speaker build I did while in quarantine this Spring.
For the cabinet I had a pair of CS ‘88 I bought from a flea market a few years back. Loved the look hated the muddy mids even after recap.
So I found a pair of e-v sp12b’s and decided to build around them. I gutted the cs 88 and paired the e-vs with some old jensen horns Using a simple cap on the horn and running the e-vs full range. Was OK but there was a hole in the mids. I tried many crossover points but always missing some mids.
So I dropped in some 4” e-v mids that matched the sbs. Added a simple crossover still running the 12 full range.
Now they sound even better than they look. Super happy with the results.
Anyway here is my first post after years in the shadows,
Phil

I too have some components that I'd like to mount in an enclosure at hand.

An EV LS12, plus EV mid horn and tweeter. Also have the crossover. Will need to cut a new front baffle. Intenal volume of my cabinets is roughly 2.8 CF. I understand the woofer I have needs around 4 CF.

How large is the enclosure you used?

The cabinet is about 1 CF. Way too small to get the best of the E-V woofer. I knew that going in that this would not be the best choice of cabinets but I really wanted to use that cabinet so I made it work. That is why I suspect I had a hole in the mids the 12 inch could not shine. However I am really impressed with the results.
